January Candle of the month – Oslo
January Candle
This month’s chosen candle was inspired by one of the top destinations to visit in January Norway, Oslo. This evocative and unique aroma of a fresh Norwegian fjords was inspired by the memories Mark made on his trip to Norway. Mark visited the Oslo over a decade ago, but he reminisces the trip regularly with help from his Oslo candle.

One of the main inspirations taken from Marks trip to Oslo was the panoramic scenery this played a big part in the aromas he wanted to include in the Oslo candle. From the fresh sea Nordic winds to the idyllic bays, to a maze of islands dotted with small colourful summer houses nestled in precarious safe havens. The turquoise seascape surrounding these bays became the inspiration for one of the main notes of the candle, salty sea accords which dominate the fragrance. As well as this, Mark also took inspiration from the vertical mountainsides and ancient snowcapped peaks of Norway. This bought an element of earthy notes of sweet floral primula and mountainside moss creating depth and layers. You can’t feel any more in tune with the sea and the land in Norway through our Oslo candle.

Mark took many memories away with him from his trip to Norway, but one stood out and gave him inspiration for the final touches on the Oslo candle. Just a 1/2-hour tram ride from the city, took Mark to the hills around Holmenkollen, where he stumbled upon a traditional Norwegian style restaurant and its panoramic breathtaking views of the City. Consequently, the restaurant gave mark the idea to include hints underlying long-lasting bottom notes of sweetness juxtaposed against the earthy and fresh base layers. He chose to include nuances of delicate watermelon and pear a touch of sweetness but still giving that fresh Nordic aroma. Lastly, these final touches made the Oslo candle complete a unique scent giving layers of earthiness, sweetness, saltiness, and freshness. Flooding the senses taking you across the globe to Oslo, Norway.
