October Candle
Mexico is this month’s chosen candle and we have taken inspiration from a popular spooky national holiday “The Day of the Dead”, also known as Halloween. During this holiday Mexico celebrates the Day of the Dead festival from the 31st of October to the 2nd of November. Families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives and loved ones for a reunion through food, drink, and celebration.
Inspiration was taken from Mexico
One of the main inspirations taken from Mark’s holiday to Mexico was the Mayan city of Chichen Itza. One of his key memories of the city was its amazing magical position within the Yucatan Jungle, rich in wildlife from jaguars to birds, fish to monkeys calling to each other, as you explore the ancient ruins. The jungle is also home to ingredients such as cacao which grows alongside cinnamon and chilli in the overgrowth. Those of which inspired some of the keynotes in Mark’s Mexico candle.
Mark was also lucky enough to climb the iconic Castillo Pyramid within Chichen Itza which forms the Mexico fragrance logo. Back then this was a permitted activity, very popular with tourists. However, this is no longer allowed due to preservation orders protecting for generations to come. This was a special memory for mark, the 91 steep steps leading to the top, provide a fantastic 360-degree view of the plaza, the river valley, and even into Guatemala. The archaeological site became the tropical musk base supporting the sensual blend of Cocoa, cinnamon, and vetivert.
Memories made in Mexico
Lastly the final memory behind this special South American candle, is a famous Mexican cocktail that Mark sampled while visiting Cancun. The cocktail is also known as “Paloma”. made with tequila, Grapefruit juice, and lime. This light and refreshing drink mirrors the main citrus notes and aromatic tequila in our candle, creating a vibrant Latin melody.
Finally, the Mexico candle was complete, and we hope this helps customers to reminisce their own past Mexican holiday memories, or maybe even inspire a visit.
