Why do we use Sugarcane bottles?
As a team at Aromaholiday we not only want to be part of a successful business but a sustainable one. We wanted to ensure our products were the first thing that reflected this. We believe in the environment, our footprint in the World and that’s why we source like-minded suppliers! Hence why we decided to use sugarcane bottles for our world spa luxury hand and body care range. The sugarcane bottles are a bio plastic which has been produced by renewable materials. So you know you are getting a product that is sustainable from start to finish. Once our product has been used up, and the bottle is empty it can then be disposed of along with your recyclable plastic. Plastic bottles of all types have an estimated reuse of 7 to 9 times so alternatively you know you can use, reuse and recycle your products!
Harvesting and Producing Sugarcane
Sugarcane is harvested and cultivated 2,000km from the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, South America. The government decided to plant and harvest the sugarcane here in an effort to protect the rainforest and the surrounding plains by preventing agricultural businesses using the land. As part of this scheme they plant the sugarcane on degraded pasture land in the hopes of helping the soil to recover. Harvesting and producing the sugarcane plastic is a process carried out under the grower and supplier code of conduct. This gives new rights to workers especially local workers in Brazil and ensures them that they have a better quality of life. Lastly, the production of sugarcane for plastic to produce sugarcane bottles has become a massive industry within Brazil. The country now produces an estimated 25% of the worlds sugar and ethanol.
