September Candle of the Month – Cape Town, South Africa.
September Candle
This months chosen candle took inspiration from travel guides on where to travel this September. Top of the list was the glorious Cape Town in the heart of South Africa. Home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world and of course the table mountain which dominates the city landscape. South Africa was visited by Mark late in Late February 1997, the trip left him with ever lasting memories, it was a place he had to include in his line of destination boutique candles.
Inspiration taken from Cape Town
One of the main inspirations taken from Marks holiday to South Africa was the Capes Floral region of its National Parks. It is regarded as one of the six Floral Kingdoms of the world and recognised for its beauty, diversity and density. During his trip, Mark also spent a morning visiting 
Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden situated on the slopes of the Table Mountain in Eastern Cape Town. The Garden has over 7,000 plant species, on 90 acres of garden set in a 1300 acre reserve. As you can imagine these experiences really created a lasting memory. With this in mind it became the inspiration behind the main floral notes in the candle.
Table mountain is the inspiration behind the crisp cool morning rain, supporting the main floral notes. The mountain has its own cloud cover suitably named as (the tablecloth) bought over by northwesterly winds. As a result, the five mountain reservoirs catch the rainfall from the cloud above. For that reason, this was an element that Mark wanted to add as part of the Cape Town candle. The fragrant mimosa and pleasant earthy middle notes tie together the memories he made from the Table Mountain, the Botanical Garden and the Floral Region.
Memories made in Cape Town 
Lastly the final inspiration mark had behind our Cape Town candle was local homely aniseed bread. Which he had as a starter whilst travelling, this is a truly authentic South African delicacy. It became the last element he needed in his candle. A triggering memory for Mark and one he wanted to share with others to help them reminisce there own trip. Finally, the Cape Town candle was complete, made with memories and inspiration. Helping customer to reminisce their own Cape Town holiday memories, whatever they may be ?
